What I did on my Day Off
Woke up around 8:30 instead of 6:00. Helped hubby get the kids up and dressed, and off they went for their Thursday at Grandma and Grandpa's (all three of them).
9:00 Cleaned up cat puke. Vacuumed the disgusting living room rug. Finished putting away baby bottles. Checked work email for emergencies.
9:30 Made some coffee, sliced a peach, took it back to bed with me to read the last 70 or so pages of The Thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield. Note: other parents will instantly recognize that the opportunity to laze in bed, in the morning, under such peaceful and idyllic circumstances, NEVER EVER happens. It was enough to make me weep with joy.
10:30 Got to the major reveal of the story, went out to make more coffee. Settled back in bed with fresh coffee in order to relish a totally quiet house, sunny morning, and awesome culmination of a great ghost story.
11:30 Finished the book. Made myself presentable. Ran an errand to the library, picked up cat medicine at the vet. Tried the new coffee at McDonald's (not bad).
1:00 Visited my favorite hair stylist at Pull out a Plum in Edina. Took photos of client's billboards at nearby location and emailed copies to client, ASI.
2:00 Wandered into Landmark Cinema, Edina to see what was playing. Took in a great French Film, The Last Mistress. Enjoyed being one of 5 people in the theater.
4:00 Went to Queen of Cakes in Edina to try out the cupcakes a dear friend has raved about. Checked work email one last time to ensure no emergencies.
5:00 Stopped by the corner market on the way home, rented a steam cleaner.
6:00 - 7:00 Steam cleaned the disgusting living room carpet. Eh. Looks a little better... but boy, was that fun!
7:10 Returned the steam cleaner. Was told "that's a record. No one ever returns it that quickly!"
7:20 Set my sights on the dying tree in our yard. Trim off two dying branches with the hack saw.
7:30 Set my sights on the evergreen tree I hate. Trimmed of four or five lower branches that block visibility of the stop sign.
7:45 Put out the garbage.
8:00 Settle in two watch two episodes of Queer as Folk from Netflix .
9:30 Hubby and the girls get home.
10:30 Settle into bed with a new book and realize, DANG! I meant to sweep under the bed today. Oh well.

Wow, sounds like you had a good day (except maybe 6:00-7:10). I can't believe how much you did, more than I do in a week! Glad you got a day off. By the way, how was the cupcake?
not as great as Wuollet's.... but worth a try
Does all of this actually qualify as "a day off"? I am not sure what I would do on a day off - that is quite interesting....
You forgot to create a headband for me.
